food network and hgtv no more?
What the hell is this? That’s what I was saying this morning when my 73 yr old mother wanted to watch her cooking shows - (more like crack-ing shows..I think she watches more of them than actually cooks) and nothing was on the screen
At first I thought I forgot to pay the cable bill..yes I’ve had many of those times..but it was some man’s voice repeating jibberish about how Cable and some company named Scripps wouldn’t come to an agreement - basically in my mind it’s two money hungry corporate existences that take money from my pocket every minute of every second and these idiots can’t settle the agreement of who is going to steal more money from the you and me?..so instead of just figuring it out, out of spite they attack right back to the people who actually pay their bills…the consumer.
What a way to start 2010 - to be reminded that even in the simplest way your getting robbed. I already get that with my weekly insult, I mean paycheck
Well at least there is a website to show your anger - www.ilovefoodnetwork.com BUT don’t be fooled, it’s just Scripps way of getting the consumer to fight their own fight and in the end when they charge Cablevision a higher price for their channels whose going to get stuck in the end? the consumer.
You know what I am fine with not seeing Guy-I need a cough drop-Fieri, Giada-I have the biggest head on the dwarf body-DeLaurentis, RACHEL RAY (she doesn’t even need an explanation of why she is annoying) Bobby-I hate Bobby Flay-Flay, and PAULA DEAN…
You know what would be a good idea? Everyone in America gets their video camera and makes their own cooking videos and posts it online to share with the world FOR FREE..youtube, a NING setup, etc. Jesus both my parents had more cooking skills in their pinkies compared to an Alton ANNOYING Brown..
Okay one more thing on my list of to-do’s and ideas..

fpo magazine puts 10 digital edition vendors to the test..
![]()
FPO Magazine..an idea I’ve always had was a magazine geared towards editorial designers..I worked at a magazine about the magazine industry but they didn’t like art directors much..that was my first warning sign. When the editor says after my first few days “your not pompous like most art directors”..I knew I was in for a ride..
I kept asking if they would focus some pages for the designer but they didn’t think it was worth it - the focus was on the publishers, the people that mattered because they made the budgets, approved what got bought..art directors look at “the pretty colors”..
I’ve always fought for the underdog..and that’s how I felt. We were the people dealing with the deadlines, fumbling over our schedules to get things done since we know how great editors are with time mangement..or at least from my experiences..
So anyway it’s nice to see a magazine focusing on the little “pompous” people..and nice to see this comparision list on digital vendors. I’ve used Issuu and love it…and love that it’s FREE!!

fabio..

“It’s top chef not top scallop!”
I just watched the Top Chef Special where the best and most infamous competitors from the first five seasons of Top Chef gathered in Los Angeles to eat and relive their time on the show. Best part was Fabio Viviani. He was hilarious on the show - funny and a wise ass..and can cook. Love.

gourmet video..
I am still annoyed that Gourmet is shutting down..especially because I’ve come to love Diary of a Foodie, a show on PBS that airs every other Sunday…
I record the show and watch it like a kid watching a cartoon..it’s fun to watch. They travel around the world to places I am sure I will never physcially touch and show all types of food and recipes..
I especially love the video’s they have so until the shut the website down I am going to try my best to catch up on my “shows”..

coupons..
Anyone that knows me, knows I love coupons. I won’t buy something without checking for one first..and find it odd that people don’t catch on to this phenomenon but it’s simple. It’s free money. that’s right free.
No, I don’t buy things just to use the coupon, I look for them WHEN i’m about to buy something I’ve already wanted.
Someone told me “well my time is worth money and the time it takes me to look for coupons is the amount I’ll make out of it”. Okay maybe, BUT that’s if you don’t know how to look - all you need to do is type in google “YOUR STORE/BRAND/ITEM and the word COUPON”..simple as that
But here are some websites I use to look as well - OH and your local paper helps as well, I subscribe to the NY Times weekend and get the food coupons every Saturday - one thing I do is make photocopies of the coupon so I can share them or reuse..another trick**
